About

Egmont Associates was founded in 1999 by Susan Egmont. As a former executive of for-profit and non-profit organizations, Susan recognized the most vital element in organizational success to be a tight fit between the CEO's skills and the organization's strategic needs.
During an executive transition, the board of directors and senior staff must be aware of what it will take to serve their community and accomplish their goals. Susan saw the opportunity to support non-profits to ensure that the new leadership met the demands of organizations seeking to become or remain strong, effective non-profits. By accepting only CEO searches, her understanding and knowledge of the needs of executives and leaders allowed her to fill a unique niche in the executive search field.
Because of Susan's leadership experience in all facets of non-profit management, including board development, program management, evaluation, finance, human resources, fund development, training, marketing, and operations, she brought a deep understanding of the challenges organizations face during the executive transition. Susan has completed over 300 successful searches in organizations focused on human services of all types, such as education, the environment, civic engagement, healthcare, and arts and culture, both nationally and internationally.
Before founding Egmont Associates, Susan was responsible for implementing school-to-career reforms in the high schools of the Boston Public Schools at The Boston Private Industry Council. As the director of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, she designed and directed a mobile health care program and built support for a successful campaign to reform the state health insurance for children. Susan also led the Atlanta Community Food Bank from its inception to its recognition as Atlanta's "best-managed non-profit." Her preceding for-profit positions included leadership in advertising and manufacturing. Susan Egmont graduated with an MBA from Emory University and was a founding board member of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management, Georgia Center for Nonprofits, and Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. She is active in local and national non-profit networks and the development of the broad non-profit sector. She is also a frequent speaker on executive leadership transition.
Susan is a co-author of Managing Leadership Transition for Nonprofits: Passing the Torch to Sustain Organizational Excellence, along with Barry Dym and Laura Watkins. The book is available on Amazon.
